For a perfect sound stage and maximum authenticity on every seat, the Acoustic Lens Technology adapts sound. Sixteen active speakers (twelve in the BMW 6 Series Convertible) with a total of 1,200 watts (1,000 watts in the BMW 6 Series Convertible) produce music in brilliant quality. Just as in an orchestra, instruments and vocals assume their exact position and create musical enjoyment fit for a concert hall.

An automatically retracting centre speaker houses a mid-range driver and the acoustic lens. It is this acoustic lens that guarantees brilliant surround-sound in all seats and distributes the sound to provide constant audio quality in every part of the vehicle. Acoustic options can be selected: in “Studio” mode a clear sound emerges, while in “Expanded” mode the acoustic space appears enlarged, thus creating an incomparable surround-sound experience.

The artistically elegant styling matches the high level of sound quality: speaker trims appear to hover thanks to the floating design. The centre speaker opens whenever music starts up. Fully aluminium speaker trims with their precise perforation pattern are characteristic of the Bang & Olufsen design. Every viewing angle reveals perfect lines in harmony with the design of the BMW models.
