Almost an optical illusion
For the creation of BeoVision 10 the consideration to the slim look has resulted in an extraordinary work with the frame. The almost invisible aluminium profiles make the TV appear as one large piece of black glass in a square format which enhances the impression of BeoVision 10 as an elegant wall decoration when switched off.
Floating glass surface
Functional and elegant solutions have been invented for BeoVision 10. The TV is covered by an elegant front glass and framed by a high-gloss polished aluminium profile on both front and rear, only a few centimeters wide.
Invisible frame
The idea of the designer was to let the frame appear light – almost invisible – in order to draw attention to the glass front of the TV. Consequently, the designer had to rethink the traditional angled frame edges, because this type of frame makes the TV stand out from the wall when mounted.
The frame of BeoVision 10 consists of two high-gloss polished aluminium profiles that are bent back in a steep angle towards the wall. The profiles are designed to take up a minimum part of the total TV surface and are split in a front and a rear part. The front profile is pushed out a bit further compared to the rear and partly hides the rear side of the frame. Combining the two halves make it possible to visually cut the depth in half.
As a result, the frame takes up a minimum part of the total TV surface and by selecting a high-gloss aluminium polishing the frame almost disappears. To help obtain this optical perception of invisibility, the rear frame is angled nearly in parallel to the wall, you can almost only see the front frame even when looking at the TV from an angle. This way the TV blends in and becomes part of the wall – and the interior decoration.
Black magic
The edge of the front frames that points towards the screen has been milled and anodized with black colour. This makes the inner edge of the profile match the black front glass that it frames perfectly and hereby enhances the invisibility and lightness of the frame.
The result is a discrete, yet elegant and strong, foundation for the glass surface, which almost seems to be floating a few centimeters from the wall. This way the impression of BeoVision 10 as one large piece of black glass is complete, making BeoVision 10 as beautiful switched on as well as switched off.
