BeoVision 4 with revolutionary plasma technology

The BeoVision 4 home cinema concept from Bang & Olufsen provides sharp details and rich, life-like colours on a full High Definition plasma screen featuring the groundbreaking Automatic Colour Management technology.

  • Picture: BeoVision 4 provides the best picture experience of any plasma screen currently on the market.
  • Automatic Colour Management: Bang & Olufsen has developed an innovative plasma technology that ensures rich and natural colours throughout the lifespan of plasma screens which would otherwise slowly degrade.
  • Automatic Picture Control: This feature automatically controls and adjusts the picture (brightness, colour, contrast, sharpness and white point) when light conditions change in the viewing room.
  • Sound: The introduction of the BeoLab 10 dedicated centre speaker means that BeoVision 4 has outstanding sound to match the crystal clear quality of its picture.
  • Design: the curved frame of finely brushed aluminium has a smooth texture that gives a feeling of warmth, and exudes an exciting combination of modern sophistication and time-honoured craftsmanship.

Senior R&D Manager Torben Dalgaard

"Bang & Olufsen has a long and proud tradition of adding a touch of magic to its products. With Automatic Colour Management, we have taken the bold step of integrating future picture quality improvement into the product itself, and presenting this revolutionary technology directly to the BeoVision 4 user. This is something that has never been done before, and it clearly adds another level of excellence and ease of use to the product."

"With Automatic Colour Management, we have set a new standard for picture quality and convenience. Automatic Colour Management means that Bang & Olufsen offers its customers something that the competition simply cannot offer: a recurring colour quality service check carried out automatically in their own home."

The concept

BeoVision 4
BeoVision 4 provides the best picture experience of any plasma screen currently on the market. Available in both a 50-inch and a 65-inch version, the BeoVision 4 plasma panel qualifies as full HD, offering razor sharp details, authentic colours, and the smoothest possible movement of objects on the screen.

Automatic Picture Control sensors constantly measure light conditions in the viewing room, and adjust brightness and contrast accordingly. But the story does not end there; BeoVision 4 delivers picture quality for the long term with the help of Automatic Colour Management, a feature centred on an extendable camera arm.

After every 100 hours of viewing, or as often as you like, a short robotic arm with a camera eye at the end swings down from behind the aluminium frame, and measures a test picture that appears on the screen. In a matter of seconds, the colour temperature is analyzed and adjusted to ensure consistent colour reproduction even after thousands of hours of use.

BeoLab 10
With the introduction of the BeoLab 10 dedicated centre speaker, BeoVision 4 now has sound to match the crystal clear quality of its picture. BeoLab 10 performs on the same high level as our most powerful loudspeakers, and provides the centre channel sound in a surround sound system with astonishing purity and balance.

With its proprietary Acoustic Lens Technology, sound from the centre channel is spread 180 degrees in the horizontal plane. At the same time, vertical dispersion is controlled, so that the detrimental early reflections from the floor and ceiling are minimized. The result is the closest possible reproduction of the original sound, not only in one sweet spot, but all across the room.

The clean lines of BeoLab 10's triangular form provide a dynamic contrast to the curves of the acoustic lens and the screen frame. However, as exciting as BeoVision 4 and BeoLab 10 are to look at from the front, the profile is discretion itself, hugging the wall like a painting, with only the distinct elliptical form of the lens to indicate that this is a true Bang & Olufsen solution.
