Understanding High Definition

With so much hype about High Definition, it’s easy to get confused about what HD actually is. We have come up with a description which should help you better understand what all of the excitement is about!

The TV you use at home is broadcast in a format called Pal. A Pal picture displays 576 visible rows of pixels on the screen whilst High Definition uses either 720 or 1080 lines, thus giving you much more detail than previously seen on television. The picture is extremely sharp, the colours are clear, the text is easier to read and the higher quality audio embedded into the signal improves the viewing experience significantly.

Bang & Olufsen have always been known for our picture quality, but with HD the possibilities are endless!

*An HD decoder will also be required from a HD broadcaster.
