Digital TV control solutions
Quite probably the most future-proof solution for Digital TV, Bang & Olufsen televisions have an ingenious device called a Set Top Box Controller built in as standard. In short, this gives you all the operational convenience of an integrated Digital TV without restricting you to one type of digital receiver in the long term.
Connect any Sky, Sky + or Sky HD receiver, or choose from good selection of FreeView receivers, and after a few clicks on the setup menu, the Beo4 remote control supplied with every TV will operate all the major functions of the external Set Top Box. Whenever you decide to change your box, another couple of clicks on the menu will make the new box work with your remote control.
The STB-C software is almost infinitely upgradeable, too. Another feature is that your Set Top Box no longer has to be on display, so you can hide it in a piece of furniture or in some cases vertically behind the TV on a specially designed bracket.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why do Bang & Olufsen products carry a PIN protection system?
Most Bang & Olufsen products are supplied with a factory set PIN number. From a security point of view this is a great idea as in the event that the product is stolen in transit, or from a customer's home as it makes the stolen goods useless to anyone but the owner or the Bang & Olufsen poduct or the retailer who supplied it. Only when the product is installed the PIN code will be revealed to the customer. It is then possible to change the PIN number to one of the customer's own choosing for even greater security. It is important though that if the number is changed, it should be a number that is either personal to the customer or identical to a PIN number that is used often such as with debit or credit card.
Why or when should I expect to see the PIN prompt?
If any Bang & Olufsen product is disconnected from the mains for more than 30 minutes, the PIN system will activate and the PIN prompt will appear when power is reconnected and someone tries to switch the unit on. The display will show the message "PIN ****". Simply enter your PIN number using the keypad on your Beo4 remote control, or the numbers on the system itself and the product should be immediately restored back to normal.
We keep suffering power cuts that activates the PIN system. Is it possible to disable the PIN system altogether?
This option is available, however, the product would then have no protection should it be stolen. So, therefore, we recommend that the PIN system stays active. If you still wish to disable it then please see your product instruction manual or contact the dealer that supplied it for help.
My Beo4 remote control has stopped operating my Sky box, why has this happened?
In most cases, the small infrared repeater connected to the front window of your Sky box has either fallen off or is incorrectly placed. In the case of a Sky + or Sky HD box the preferred place for the repeater is directly above the PLAY indicator (right-pointing arrow) in the centre of the front panel. Alternatively, check that your STB (DTV) settings are set to Sky or Sky + on your TV's setup menu, if you are unsure how to do this then please contact the dealer that supplied the product.
How do I MUTE the sound on my Bang & Olufsen system?
Pressing the UP / Down volume button directly in the middle MUTEs the speakers completely, press again to bring the sound back.
Can I MasterLink my Bang & Olufsen system to wet areas such as the Bathroom and Outside?
YES!! You can enjoy the sound and have full control in these areas, by using a small Bang & Olufsen amplifier / control box and a pair of passive speakers such as environmental ceiling speakers, or environmental outdoor weather proof speakers, {great for those summer BBQs} please call us to discuss your exact requirements.
