Switchover starts in the Border TV region in 2008 and ends around the middle of 2009. When it is complete, Border will be the first region in the UK to have switched over to digital TV, alongside a growing number of European regions.

This is when switchover will take place in the region:

Last quarter of 2008:

Selkirk transmitter, serving the Scottish Borders.

Second quarter of 2009:

Caldbeck transmitter, serving Dumfries & Galloway, Cumbria and the Isle of Man.

Broadcast signals do not have precise boundaries, and therefore viewers do not necessarily receive their television picture from the nearest transmitter. Digital UK is developing a postcode database, available from next year, which will tell viewers the transmitter that is closest to them.

Digital TV and Bang & Olufsen

Digital UK, the organisation leading the UK’s switch to Digital TV, state that 74.8% of households in the UK have multi-channel television due to current digital solutions via Sky or Freeview. Many Bang & Olufsen customers have been contacting us to discuss their current setups and what they need to do to be ready for the digital switchover. We have been able to advise customers on their products and have helped resolve many concerns.

One other solution is the launch of the integrated digital tuner which has been eagerly anticipated and we can now announce that we are able to supply this module.

The built-in module will offer customers the convenience and simplicity of one integrated solution, overcoming the need to store a peripheral set-top box. It will also reduce the overall power consumption compared to a television and an external set-top box.
