Beosound Level

Run your hands over the frame of Beosound Level – a speaker that stands upright, lies flat, or mounts elegantly on a wall. Its oak detailing, smooth to the touch, is sourced for its longevity, designed to age gracefully rather than degrade.

Beosound Emerge

Or take Beosound Emerge. Its materials – woven textiles, solid wood, and pearl-blasted aluminium – are carefully chosen for both their acoustics and durability.

Beolab 8

Beolab 8 doesn’t just have the ability to upgrade its looks. Its modular build lets you replace crucial bits of tech – all the way down to its Mozart software chip.

Beosound A5

Beosound A5 marries organic materials with powerhouse sound. Both things aiming to stick with you.

Beosound A5 disassembled

Each is Cradle to Cradle certified – a global standard for safe, circular, and responsibly made products. These designs ensure that when the day comes to retire a device, it can be disassembled and its components recycled efficiently.

But the real beauty? There’s nothing final about them. Covers can be swapped, materials refreshed, components upgraded. The speakers you own and love today are the speakers you’ll still love years and years from now. Because great designs aren’t just timeless in appearance. They’re timeless in purpose.

Let´s get specific

What is the Cradle to Cradle certification?

Created by the American architect William McDonough and the German chemist Michael Braungart in 2002, the Cradle to Cradle design principles represent the most ambitious product certification standard in the world. The framework, standard and certification have been created by the Institute, which aims to support sustainable development and circular change, by introducing a replaceable, customizable and upgradeable approach to products. Bang & Olufsen’s approach to replaceable, customizable and upgradeable products is an addition to the Institute’s specific requirements in the standard. What’s more, it’s science-based, volunteer-led and audited by a third party, ensuring that the rigourous standards it sets are adhered to as closely as possible.

We are proud to have become the first Consumer Electronics brand to have Cradle to Cradle certification – but we know there’s always room for improvement. Which is why our ambition isn’t simply to be the first, but also the most committed to circular design.

Meet Berit, our master of circularity

This circular thinking has shaped Bang & Olufsen’s approach for years. It started with Beosound Level back in 2021, proving that a modular, repairable speaker could be both timeless and durable. The success of Level led to Beosound Emerge and then Beosound A5, each refining the idea further. So, what’s next?

“Cradle to Cradle also ensures social fairness – human rights, working conditions, making sure the people creating these products are treated well. That holistic approach means the most to me personally. You can’t just focus on one thing and ignore the people behind it.” With more Cradle to Cradle certifications on the way, one thing is certain: Berit Jensen and team are fully committed to the journey.

But for Berit, Cradle to Cradle is about much more than product design. It means considering every aspect of longevity – not just materials and recyclability, but also energy, water consumption, and environmental impact.

“It’s a journey, a process. We’re not there yet. There’s so much more to do. But we’re making real steps, leading the change. And right now, we’re the only ones in our industry – consumer electronics and audio – who are doing this.”
