Recreated Classics

Bringing the past into the future

Beograms and Beolab 28

Our Recreated Classics Programme proves that with enough love and care, an iconic audio product can be just as stunning as a new one – but with arguably more charm.

Recreated. Replayed. Reborn.

Beosystem 9000c

Originally designed by David Lewis in the 90s, the Beosound 9000 was unlike anything that came before it. It was sculptural, kinetic, dramatic. A six-CD changer. A 90’s icon. And a revolution in design that turned your collection into a gallery of sound. Never meant to be hidden away.

Now, it returns, stripped back, reengineered, and rebuilt for today through Bang & Olufsen’s Recreated Classics Programme – merging its bold 90’s spirit with state-of-the-art connectivity and modern acoustics. A timeless masterpiece reborn as the Beosystem 9000c.

Past. Present. Future. Spinning in perfect harmony

Beosystem 4000c

Designed in the 1970s, it was more than a turntable – it was a masterpiece of engineering. Its tangential tonearm ensured the needle moved in perfect alignment with the grooves. No jumps, no distortion, no skipping ahead. And its revolutionary suspended chassis made it “dance-proof,” ensuring that nothing – not movement, not vibrations, not the energy of the room – could interrupt the music.

Now, it connects seamlessly to the modern world as the Beosystem 4000c. A Beogram 4000c paired with Beolab 28 speakers take the analogue warmth of vinyl and refine it, delivering a stereo sound experience that is both powerful and intimate. And a new look: tones of honey, copper, ginger and amber sing in any space. A Beoremote Halo allows you to control it all.

Audio excellence since 1925

Beogram 4000c

In 1972 designer Jacob Jensen’s approach was radical. He stripped away excess, refining the turntable to its purest form. The result? A minimalist masterpiece crafted from materials chosen with purpose: brushed aluminium and warm wood, creating a contrast that felt both modern and enduring. The Beogram 4000 quickly became one of the most celebrated industrial designs of its time

Meet Mads, our master of recreation

As Director, Head of Product Circularity and Portfolio Planning, Mads Kogsgaard Hansen is the driving force behind the Recreated Classics Programme – ‘a crazy pilot project’ as he describes it, set up in 2020. “It’s not about nostalgia. We don’t do this because we’re sentimental. And it’s not about making museum pieces. We do it because when something is built with care, it deserves a second life.”

“That’s what makes Recreated Classics different. We’re not just restoring products. We’re preserving knowledge. Craft. A way of thinking that would otherwise be lost.” “Look at these products. They aren’t disposable. They were made to last. But we, as an industry, have to take responsibility for keeping them relevant.” And that’s exactly what Mads and his team are doing.

And Mads explains that inside Factory 3, a different kind of preservation is happening – one that isn’t just about the products, but the people who made them in the first place. “Erik Vennevold,” Mads says. “He worked on the original Beosound 9000 CD player back in 1996. He knew every curve, every component.” He pauses, letting the weight of that settle in. “Now, nearly 30 years later, Erik is restoring those same CD players with the same hands that originally built them.”

“It’s not just about making things work again. It’s about making them feel like they belong in the present.”
