Bang & Olufsen is excited to announce its collaboration as an official co-partner of the renowned Montreux Jazz Festival, scheduled for July 4–19, 2025, along the picturesque shores of Lake Geneva in Switzerland.
Heritage and music
Established in 1967 by the visionary Claude Nobs and currently under the direction of Mathieu Jaton, the Montreux Jazz Festival has evolved into a globally celebrated cultural phenomenon. It's famous not only for its history of legendary musical performances and rich artistic heritage but also for its uniquely stunning location. This year marks a significant moment as Bang & Olufsen aligns with the festival, bringing its legacy of sophisticated, enduring technology to an audience that deeply appreciates exceptional audio experiences. The Montreux Jazz Festival boasts a remarkable history of hosting some of the most iconic figures in music. Legendary performances that have become part of music history include Nina Simone's powerful sets in the 1960s, often cited for their raw emotion and improvisational brilliance. Miles Davis graced the Montreux stage multiple times, with his 1973 performance standing out as a fusion masterpiece. Queen's electric performances in the 1970s and 80s, captured in several live albums and films, are also highlights. Other notable artists who have delivered unforgettable shows include Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin, Stevie Wonder, Prince, and David Bowie, each contributing to the festival's rich tapestry of musical excellence. These performances, often characterized by unique collaborations and spontaneous musical moments, have solidified the Montreux Jazz Festival's reputation as a premier global music event.
Kristian Teär, CEO of Bang & Olufsen, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “Our partnership with the Montreux Jazz Festival, an institution synonymous with artistry and emotional resonance through sound – qualities Bang & Olufsen also champions – is a source of great pride. Both our brands share a dedication to uncompromising excellence and a belief in music’s transformative power. We eagerly anticipate crafting memorable experiences together that both honour our respective histories and inspire future generations of music enthusiasts.”
Each summer, the Montreux Jazz Festival attracts over 250,000 visitors, drawn by its stellar lineup of international musicians, the breathtaking natural scenery, and its acclaimed immersive acoustics. As part of this exciting partnership, Bang & Olufsen will introduce an exclusive Listening Lounge within the prestigious Fairmont Le Montreux Palace hotel. This intimate space will offer invited guests the opportunity to immerse themselves in the brand’s world-class sound and timeless design, perfectly complementing the festival's atmosphere.
To commemorate this collaboration, Bang & Olufsen will also unveil the Beosound A9 - MJF Special Edition. This limited-edition speaker will feature artwork inspired by the festival's iconic visual identity, seamlessly blending striking aesthetics with Bang & Olufsen’s signature acoustic performance. Available in select Bang & Olufsen stores from early July, this speaker serves as a testament to design, culture, and the enduring impact of sound.
Mathieu Jaton, Director of the Montreux Jazz Festival, commented, “My long-standing fascination with Bang & Olufsen stems from their remarkable ability to fuse acoustic excellence with iconic design. This special edition of the Beosound A9 embodies the spirit of Montreux, allowing music lovers worldwide to bring a piece of this magic into their homes.”
