Peter Bang and Svend Olufsen had a shared dream; to make radios and become independent. Backed by family investments and a borrowed attic at the Olufsen family residence, Quistrup in Struer, they founded the Bang & Olufsen on 17 November 1925. Their fathers were the first major shareholders, and the families owned all shares until 1977 when Bang & Olufsen was listed on the Copenhagen Stock Exchange.
